Lois A. (Bouchard) Nelson, 76, of Farmington, formerly of West Hartford, beloved wife of Peter W. Nelson, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Born in Swanton, VT, daughter of the late Julius and Virginia (Tetrault) Bouchard, she had been a resident of West Hartford, before moving to Farmington many years ago. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a librarian at Central Connecticut State University. Lois was an active volunteer at FAVARH, working primarily at the Thrift Store. She loved to dance, spend time with family at the cottage and all her special times with her daughter Lora. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, William Nelson and Michael Nelson; two daughters, Susanne Phelps and Lora Nelson. She was affectionately known as “Nana” to her six grandchildren, Kayla, Connor and Lindsey Phelps and Katrina, Alyssa and Nicole Nelson. Lois is also survived by a brother Merle Bouchard and predeceased by a brother Allen Bouchard. The family would like to give a special thanks to the ICU Staff at John Dempsey Hospital for the special care Lois received in her final days. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January, 10, at 11:00 am in St. Brigid Church, New Britain Ave., West Hartford. Everyone is requested to meet at the Church. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to FAVARH, 225 Commerce Street, Canton, CT 06019.
