Obituary for Peter William Jefferson

Peter William Jefferson, 79, a resident of West Hartford Connecticut passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2014. He was born on Dec 2, 1934 in Manchester, Connecticut, the son of the late Nathan Cyril Jefferson and Anna Zorskis. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley Jefferson of 46 years and his son, Eric Jefferson. He is survived by two sons, KC Jefferson and his wife Raija of Deptford, New Jersey and his son, Greg Jefferson and his wife Denise of Stafford Spring Connecticut. He also had 2 grandchildren, Renee Jefferson and a great- granddaughter, Jade and Nicole Deskus and husband Jason with 2 great-grandchildren, Madison Rose and Nicholas. Peter also had the great love and devotion of his niece, Eileen Donohue and her husband Wayne. Peter grew up in West Hartford attending public schools and enjoyed spending his summers in Long Island, New York at a summer house. A graduate of William Hall High School Class of 1952, he was a member of the Boy Scouts, Alter boy and enjoyed fishing swimming and family activities. Peter was at his happiest later in his life when he was surrounded by all of his family, he used to say they were great days. Peter was a member of the Connecticut National Guard from 1952-56 Air Section and Medics, Headquarters Division. He retired from the Town of West Hartford where he held several positions from Fire Fighter, Tree Climber to Foreman in the Public Works Division. Peter also worked for several years after he retired with Industrial Safety and Supply. Peter was a Lifetime member of the Governor’s Foot Guard where he held the rank of Captain and Quartermaster. Peter was a past member of the Irish American Home Society. The joy of his life was entertaining, family activities, traveling and of course watching the UCONN girls play. He also enjoyed spending quite time by Emerald Lake at his summer house in Hillsborough, New Hampshire "ERIC's Place". As per his request there will be no calling hours or funeral. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a memorial donations in Peter’s name may be made to the Eric Nathan Jefferson Memorial Scholarship Fund at Franklin Pierce University, 40 University Drive, Rindge, New Hampshire 03461.
