She was born on May 17, 1918 in Norway where she grew up with many fond memories but also endured 4 years of Nazi occupation during World War II. After graduating nursing school and working as a nurse for a couple of years she traveled to the US in 1947 where, while working at Brooklyn Norwegian Hospital, she met her future husband of 46 years John Wathne. She was one of the founding members of the Sons of Norway Hartford Lodge and was a member of the Dorcas Society at the Bethany Lutheran Church in West Hartford. She was also a member of Cornerstone pool for many years, swimming there at least 3 times a week until her late 90’s. She was pre-deceased by her husband John, her daughter Karen M. Wathne and leaves her son Jon Ross Wathne and his longtime companion Patricia Dzialo as well as many friends, nieces and nephews in both the US and Norway. She was much loved and will be missed.
