Obituary for Arthur G. Olson

Arthur G. Olson, 89, of Groton, formerly of West Hartford, husband of the late Janice (Munger) Olson, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016. Born on April 25, 1927, son of the late Gustaf and Edith (Kask) Olson and lived in West Hartford for most of his life.
He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran, and a Graduate of The University of Connecticut. Arthur retired, after 35 years from Pratt & Whitney, East Hartford as Chief Purchasing Agent. Arthur and his wife Janice were married for over 50 years, especially enjoying Couples Club at Emanuel Lutheran Church, and spending their retirement in West Palm Beach, FL; and Groton, CT. Arthur was an avid gardener, fisherman, and thoroughly enjoyed carpentry, and reading about the civil war.
Arthur is survived by two sons Dean Olson and his wife Beth of Farmington, and Mark Olson and his wife Lori of Rensselaer, NY; daughter Cynthia Olson of CA; four grandchildren Eric, Jennifer, Blake, Erika; brother Paul Olson of Colchester; and sister Eleanor Mitkoski of West Hartford. He was predeceased by two brothers Walter and Herbert Olson and one sister Mildred Lozier. A special thanks to the family's guiding light Rose Levine for all her compassion and care giving support during the last several years.
The Funeral Services will be on Thursday, September 1, at 12:30pm at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:30-12:30, on Thursday, prior to the service. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford with Military Honors.
