Maria Isabel (Anjos) Reis, 89, of Farmington, beloved wife of the late Joaquim C. Reis, died on Friday, September 16, 2016. Born in Moitas Venda, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Joaquim Celestino dos Anjos and Ana Isabel Reis and came to Hartford over fifty years ago. She was employed by the Aetna prior to her retirement and was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford.
Maria greatest love was her being with her family. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and gardening. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Cesar and Karen Reis, three daughters and sons-in-law, Constancia and Joaquim Tavares, Maria Emelinda and Antonio Bento and Natalia and Cesar Nascimento; a sister, Irene Maria; eight grandchildren and their spouses, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Constancia Isabel Ferreira, Ermelinda dos Anjos Ferreira and Victoria Reis Goncalves. Funeral procession will be Tuesday, (Sept. 20), 10:30 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Calling hours will be prior to the funeral mass from 8:45 to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Maria's family would like to extended a special thank you to the staff of the West Hartford Health and Rehab Center for their loving care and support they gave to their mother.
