Antoinette "Ann"  O'Brien (Parente)
Ann O'Brien (née Antoinette Parente) slipped away peacefully on September 20, 2016 after a brief illness. She lived her entire life in West Hartford, attending Charter Oak Elementary School as part of its inaugural class in 1930, and attended Hall High. She was employed in various manufacturing and clerical jobs throughout her life, including at Stop & Shop in Wethersfield, from where she retired at age 81. Ann was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Richard T. O'Brien as well as her sister, Rose Parente Lemieux. She leaves two daughters, Laura Herman of Meriden and Karen O'Maxfield of Hartford; their husbands, Howard Herman and Gary Goldberg-O'Maxfield; granddaughters, Michelle Montesanto of North Branford and Elyse O'Connell of West Hartford; along with five great grandchildren, Danielle Montesanto, Marissa Montesanto, Emma Vernile, Rocco Vernile and John Paul Montesanto. She was predeceased by grandson Paul Burby. She also leaves her at-home caregiver and close friend, Valentyna Skyba, of New Britain, with whom she shared many hours and adventures in Ann’s last year. Calling hours will be held at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford on Friday,( September 23) from 5pm to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial to be Saturday, (September 24), 10:30 am at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, West Hartford. Interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford will immediately following.
