Obituary for Giuseppe "Joe" Vicenzo

Giuseppe "Joe" Vicenzo, 86, of West Hartford, beloved husband of Anna (DiTaranto) Vicenzo, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Born in Sepino, Campobasso, Italy, Joe came to the United States in 1960 and was a lifelong resident of Connecticut. He worked as a machinist and retired from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. No matter where he lived he was an avid gardener, always sharing the results of his efforts with everyone. Besides his wife of 55 years, Joe is survived by his son, Mario Vicenzo of West Hartford; a daughter, Maria Vicenzo of Bristol, RI and his sisters, Filomena and Angelina both of Italy He was predeceased by his brothers, Antonio and Nicola Vicenzo. Joe also leaves many dear cousins, nieces and nephews in the U.S., Canada and Italy.
Funeral procession will be Friday, (October 28), 11:00 a.m. from Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, West Hartford. Entombment will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Thursday, (October 27), from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
