Obituary for Eleonora D'Agostino Corvaglia

Eleonora D'Agostino Corvaglia
Eleonora D'Agostino Corvaglia, 93, of West Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late Giovanni Corvaglia, who passed away in 1975. She was born in Sant'Arcangelo, Potenza, Italy on March 21, 1923 to the late Pasquale and Rosa (Castronuovo) D'Agostino. In 1957, she courageously left her beloved Italy and emigrated with her husband and four children to the United States, making West Hartford her home for over 50 years. Along with her children, she proudly became a citizen in 1964. Eleonora was a gifted dressmaker and seamstress and established her own , at-home business. Her family was always the center of her life. She leaves her children, daughter Anna Corvaglia of West Hartford, son Pasquale Corvaglia of West Hartford, daughter and son-in-law Rosa Boettger and Robert of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter and son-in-law Lucia Little and William of Simsbury; nine grandchildren and spouses and ten great-grandchildren: Tina DeGrazia Garbarino and her husband Thomas and their children, Thomas, Isabella and Olivia, of Poughkeepsie, NY, Jennifer Schufer and her husband Michael, and their children Ethan, Jacob and Nathan of Colorado, Lt. Col. Henry John Busque, (Ret) and his wife Michele of San Jose, CA, Lt. Col. Christopher Busque, and his wife Patti of San Antonio, TX, Heather Simms and her husband Brian, and their children, Ava and Bergen of Colorado, William Sharp of Colorado, Erin Stafford and her husband Michael and their children, Ella and Cullen of Kasson, MN, Stacie Dumond and her husband Keith of West Hartford, and Andrea Estey and her husband Joshua of Shelburne, VT. Eleonora was one of four daughters and, even with three of them emigrating from Italy to Buenos Aires, Argentina, the D'Agostino sisters were tightly bonded. She was predeceased by two sisters, Julia D'Agostino Pisani and Antonia D'Agostino DeMarco. She leaves behind one sister, Teresa D'Agostino Cavallo. In addition, she leaves cousins, nieces and nephews in the U.S., Italy and Argentina. For over 50 years, Eleonora made many friends, a number of whom became extended family. A sad part of her long life was to outlive so many. For those of us remaining, we love you and will miss you Mamma. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary Home for the loving care given to Eleonora, as well as the Virginia Connolly Residence, Simsbury. Funeral procession will be Saturday, (January 21), 9:00 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford.
