Irene (Przybylski) Schaschl, 94, of West Hartford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2017. Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Zygmunt and Katherine (Naholnick) Przybylski, she was a graduate of Hartford High School. In 1946 she married the love of her life, the late Joseph Schaschl, and became residents of West Hartford for over 50 years. She was a tour guide for over 25 years at the Hartford Courant and a teacher's aide at Webster Hill School, West Hartford. Irene was a devoted mother who loved summers at Chalker Beach, Old Saybrook with her family. She was a long time parishioner of St. Mark the Evangelist Church. She is survived by her children: Linda Gagnon, widow of Wayne Gagnon of West Hartford ; Jeffrey Schaschl of West Hartford; Jodi Schaschl and her spouse, Carla Massaro of Fairfield; Andrew Schaschl and his wife, Carla of St. Louis, MO; and five grandchildren: Courtney and Patrick Gagnon; Melanie, Dylan, and Kelly Schaschl. The family sends a special thank you to all the staff at the Jefferson House for their exceptional care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090 or to a charity of the donor’s choice. The funeral procession will be Tuesday, (May 2), 9:45 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 am at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, West Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Monday, (May 1), from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbronBreen.com.
