Esmeralda (Jesus) Goncalves,90, of Hartford, beloved wife of Carlos Santiago passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Born in Vale Maior, Albergaria-A-Velha, Portugal, she immigrated to Hartford in 1966. Esmeralda was employed at the Sonesta Hotel, Hartford and was a communicant of Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Beside her husband, she is survived by a son, Jose C. Goncalves of Hartford; a daughter and son-in-law, Clotilde and Jose Oliveira of Farmington; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Antonio and Maria Santos of Farmington and Carlos and Alcina Santos of Portugal; a sister, Clotilde Tomkil of Bristol; sisters -in-law, Celina and Ana Santos; two grandchildren, Cristina Johnson and Joe Goncalves; three great-grandchildren, Wesley Goncalves, Troy Johnson and Audrina Johnson and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Cecilia Goncalves. She was predeceased by her brothers, Manuel and Francisco and her sisters, Albertina and Micas. Funeral procession will be Tuesday, (June 20), 11:00 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hour will be prior to the funeral from 8:30 to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
