Obituary for Flora Perleoni (Ellard)

Flora Ellard Perleoni,90, beloved wife of Raymond M. Perleoni, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017. Flora was born in Hartford, CT on May 10, 1927, graduated from Hall High School in 1945 and was a resident of West Hartford for most of her life. Flora was predeceased by her parents Archibald McNeish and Grace S. McNeish; her brother John C. McNeish and his dear wife Beverly P. McNeish, her brother James A. McNeish; and her devoted first husband and father of her children, James J. Ellard. Flora leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law Linda E. Havunen and David I. Havunen of Marlborough, CT; her daughter Bette E. Violette of Wethersfield, CT; her grandson William J. Varney and his children Heather and Roger of Denver, CO, as well as a very special sister-in-law, Clare S. McNeish of Rutland, VT, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Flora worked for the Town of West Hartford in several departments retiring after 35 years from the Tax office. Flora was very active in the West Hartford Suburban Women's Club and was a volunteer for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center for several years which she found very rewarding.
Flora loved the shore and spent many summers enjoying her beach house at Black Point in Niantic, CT and visiting with dear friends in Sag Harbor, NY. Flora was always eager to travel and visited many countries, but her favorite destination was Scotland where her parents were born. Flora's first visit to Scotland was when she was seven years old, and through the years she developed life-long friendships with all of her relatives in "bonnie" Scotland.
Flora was a faithful communicant of the First Presbyterian Church of Hartford for most of her life and volunteered her time and support to the Church. Flora's strong faith guided her through the hardships and challenges that she faced, and she lived a long and blessed life.
Above all, Flora loved her family and friends and enjoyed the laughter and companionship of the people with whom she shared her life. Flora was a kind, generous and loving person and we will miss her cheerful smile; may she rest in peace.
The family is so grateful for the kindness and support Flora received at The Holiday and at Hughes Health and Rehabilitation in West Hartford, as well as her special friend Martha Taylor, who cared for her while she lived at The Holiday.
