I first met Tyler in our anatomy lab, first year of medical school, at USUHS. We were assigned to the same group, the same cadaver, for a year. The next year I was in the pathology lab with him, same group for a year. We shared so many unique experiences, and I feel like we became very good friends over time. Tyler was such an intresting person, so many unique qualities, and a very brilliant mind, nearly a genius at times. I remember in our third year he taught himself Spanish in 2 months, passed an oral exam, and won a scholarship to travel to Mexico City to study medicine there for a period. As we graduated medical school and moved to residency, again I found myself in his company. He was a medical intern, and I was a surgical intern, at the original Walter-Reed. I remember we would both be on night call, spending the night in the hospital, sharing stories about the new experiences of being doctors. We would have dinner together sometimes, ordering take out. Thoes are actually some of my best memories of that period in my life, which was more then stressful. The last time I saw Tyler he seemed so full of energy, he had many business ideas, was teaching, had so many great things going on. He was a great friend and a truly unique person. When I heard he had passed I could not believe it. The world is a lesser place without him. You will be truly missed Tyler.
Your Friend,
Rob
