Obituary for Helen B. Mierzejewski (Jastremski)
Helen B. Mierzejewski, 91, of West Hartford, died peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. She was born in New Britain, CT, on February 18, 1926, to the late Peter and Mary (Zaleski) Jastremski. She married and moved to West Hartford where she lived for more than 60 years. Helen was deeply devoted to her family and will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, generosity, positive spirit and food for everyone! She was the model mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor and her caring and selfless heart will be profoundly missed. Her family is especially thankful for the small moments, everlasting memories, the laughter and unconditional love she shared with everyone.
Helen leaves behind to celebrate her life and live her spirit two sons, John Mierzejewski and his wife Elaine LeLaurin of West Hartford, and Paul Mierzejewski and his wife Beverly of Naugatuck, and three daughters, Janis Ellison and Mary Anne Mierzejewski of West Hartford, and Debra Gal and her husband Lawrence of Newington. She is also survived by six cherished grandchildren, John, Kimberly, Cynthia, Jessica, Kristopher and Elizabeth, and ten great-grandchildren she adored, Alexis, Jacob, Michael, Peter, Dreamanna, Charlotte, Thomas, Max, Adeline and Theodore. She leaves three loving sisters, many nieces and nephews, dear friends and wonderful neighbors. She was predeceased by her husband John, son-in-law Charles Ellison, granddaughter Sandra, two brothers and two sisters.
The Mierzejewski family would like to extend thanks to the ICU and surgical teams at Hartford Hospital who attended her.
Calling hours will be held at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, on Sunday, November 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, at St. Brigid Church, 1088 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Avenue, West Hartford CT.
In lieu of flowers for those who wish to do so, donations may be made to Special Olympics CT, 2666 State St. #1, Hamden, CT 06517.
