Obituary for Natalia "Nikki" Coutinho (Correia)
NATALIA “NIKKI” COUTINHO (CORREIA) passed away in peace and comfort at St. Francis Hospital on December 2nd, 2017 in Hartford, CT at the age of 69.
Natalia is survived by her husband, Fernando Coutinho; children, Robert and his wife Chiara Coutinho, and Nadine and her husband Bobby Canto; granddaughters, Ashley and Julia Canto; siblings, Maria Santos, Tina Consorti, and James Correia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Emilia Correia.
Natalia was born on December 25th, 1947 in Reguengo do Fetal, Portugal and immigrated to the United States in 1950. She graduated from Hartford High School in 1966 and married the love of her life, Fernando Coutinho, in 1968. Natalia worked in the insurance industry until her retirement in 2010. She was an adoring grandmother to Ashley and Julia, in whom she instilled a love and appreciation of family traditions. She was a devoted wife who loved to travel to Portugal every year with her husband to visit family, friends and attend Benfica soccer matches. She shared her generous love of reading and BBC America with her son, and most importantly, her dedication and commitment to family that she saw reflected in her daughter. She was a beloved friend and confidante to her brother and sisters with whom she spoke on a weekly basis. She was an uplifting light in the lives of countless friends, cousins, aunts, and uncles across the country and around the world.
Calling hours are Wednesday, December 6th, from 5 to 8 pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. The funeral procession will be Thursday, December 7th, at 9:00 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Natalia's life.
