Obituary for Kasimer "Kaz" Glista

KASIMER "KAZ" GLISTA, 95 of Elmwood, CT died December 20, 2017. He was born in 1922 in Holyoke, MA, son of Joseph and Agata (Rytwinska) Glista who immigrated from Poland. He graduated from Chicopee High School in 1939 and at age 17 worked at Pratt & Whitney. He was drafted into the Navy Seabees in 1943, serving two years in New Guinea and the Philippines. After the war, he attended Bliss Electrical School in Tacoma Park, MD and the Ward School of Electronics (which is now part of the University of Hartford). With his partner, Walter Murphy, he operated the Elmwood TV in Elmwood and in Newington, CT for 30 years. Kaz was very active in the Television Service Association of CT (TELSA) and was also a life member of the VFW POST 9929 in West Hartford. Having genealogy as a hobby, he had belonged to the Polish Genealogy Society of Connecticut, and collected over 2350 individuals in his extended family tree.

Kaz married Rosli Stussi of Glarus, Switzerland in 1951. Along with his wife of 66 years, he leaves three sons and a daughter: Christopher Glista of West Hartford, CT, Thomas Kasimer Glista of Silver Spring, MD, Walter Glista of Columbia, CT and Verena (Vreni) Jones of Springfield, MO. and 9 grandchildren. Kaz was predeceased by his eldest son, Hans Glista, three brothers and a sister, Stanley Glista, Anthony Glista, Ferdinand Glista, and Victoria Gajowski.
Internment will be at the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elmwood Community Church or St. Brigid Church in Elmwood, CT. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
