Joseph M. Benacquisto, 76, of New Britain, formerly of West Hartford, passed away, Friday, December 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 23, 1941 in Schenectady, NY, the loving son of the late Michael and Anna Benacquisto. Joseph grew up in Schenectady, NY where he started his career as a Capitol Cop and ended his 32 year career in the West Hartford Police Dept. as a Narcotic Detective. He was loved and highly respected by all. Joe was a devoted and loving husband, father, papa and brother. He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Bobbie Benacquisto; his daughters, Kerri Ann Benacquisto and her husband, Noel and Tina Marie Benacquisto and her husband, Shamowl; step-son Robert Potter; his grandchildren, Joseph, Dominick, Gabrielli, Caleb Benacquisto, Erich Nowsch, Jr., and Katlynn Howell; a brother Larry Benacquisto; a sister Patricia Benacquisto and a niece, Melanie Wagner. He was predeceased by his sons, Marty and Eric Nowsch. He also leaves behind his extended police family and many friends.
Calling hours will be Sunday, (January 7), from 3 to 6 pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, (January 8), 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Everyone is requested to meet at the church.
