Obituary for Edwin J. Zisa

Edwin J.  Zisa
Edwin J. Zisa, 94, of West Hartford, beloved husband of the late Lillian D. (Demers) Zisa died Friday, June 20, 2014. Born in New York City, NY, son of the late John P. and Cesira Zisa, he was a long time resident of West Hartford. He was a graduate of St. John's Prep School and Providence College. Edwin along with his brother were co-owners of the Phoenix Dress Factory in Hartford and he was retired from Hamilton Standard, Aerospace. He was a member of the 1st Company, Governor's Horse Guard, the Knights of Columbus and was a communicant of the Church of St. Brigid, West Hartford. Edwin was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling, playing billiards, gardening, was a former pilot and a lifelong Yankee fan. Edwin is survived by a son, Richard Zisa and his wife Jeanne of Hobe Sound, FL; a son, Douglas Zisa and his wife Nancy of Mesa, AZ; a daughter, Patricia Anzalotti and her husband Frank of Hampden, MA;
a son, Raymond Zisa and his wife Erika of Kensington, a daughter, Pamela Zisa of West Hartford and a daughter-in-law, Amy Zisa of West Hartford; He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Michael, Jeffrey, John, Meg and Zak; 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Edwin was predeceased by a son, Thomas Zisa and a brother, Merko Zisa. The funeral procession will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Brigid, West Hartford. Burial will be at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 - 6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edwin may be made to Newfoundland Club of New England’s Rescue and Referral Service, (NCNE Charitable Fund Inc.) c/o Lori Bryant, 40 Durham St., Nashua, NH 03063.
