Obituary for Ralph J. Archer Jr.

Ralph J. Archer Jr., 66, of West Hartford, formerly of the Berkshires and Chester, MA, beloved husband of Cynthia (Spector) Archer for over 34 years, died on February 23, 2016, after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. Born in Japan on September 6, 1949, he was the son of the late Jenny Johnson Archer and Ralph J. Archer Sr., being an army child, Ralph lived in Japan and Germany until the age of seven. Ralph was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a bachelor's degree in Biology and also a graduate of The University of Hartford, Hart School of Music with a bachelor's degree in Music. He taught himself about computers and was employed at IBM for 25 years (formerly ABB) as a computer programming consultant and he was also employed at Heublein. Ralph was a classical guitarist, he enjoyed dog sledding with his huskies and Tanglewood music events. Besides his wife Cindy, Ralph is survived by two brothers, James Peter Archer and Dennis Michael Archer, a brother-in-law, Jack Spector; two sisters-in-law, Kate Spector and Joanne Carvalho Spector; three nieces, Jennifer (Spector) Carvalho Salemi and her husband, Jason, Frances Williams and Patricia Archer; two nephews, Seth Paris Spector and William Archer Jr.; one great nephew, Anthony Archer and his cousins, Leona Brenner, Jackie Spector and Jennie and Jayla. A special thanks to caregivers, Debbie; and Mark and Laura Wytrzes for all their help. Besides his parents, Ralph is predeceased by a brother, William 'Bill' Archer; a brother-in-law, Joel Spector and his father-in-law, Gabriel Spector.
