Angelo Torromeo, 98, beloved husband of the late Eleonora (DeParis) Torromeo of West Hartford died on Monday, (July 25, 2016), at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Born in Providence, RI, son of the late Gaetano and Julia (Grande) Torromeo, he grew up in San Marco de Teano, Italy, served in Africa during World War II and in 1951 married Eleonora DeParis. In 1954, Angelo emigrated and worked two full time jobs for two years at St. Francis Hospital to enable his wife Eleonora and son Gaetano to join him. Angelo worked as a chef at St. Francis Hospital until his retirement in 1983. In addition to his full time duties, he also prepared what was then "a late evening supper", thus endearing himself to many residents, interns and nursing staff. After retiring from St. Francis, Angelo was instrumental in the start up, growth and success of Pegasus Specialty Foods in Windsor Locks. He oversaw catering operations and served deli customers daily for the next 25 years always ensuring that everyone walked away happily with a "little bit over". He leaves his children, Gaetano Torromeo (wife, Peggy, deceased) of Windsor Locks, Lauretta Bartoletti and husband Vinnie of Southington, Alessandro Torromeo and wife Rosemarie of West Hartford; seven loving grandchildren, Michelle (husband Scott), Kathryn (husband Paolo), Angela (fiance Michael), Vinnie (wife Heather), Anthony, Michael (fiancé Holly), and Alaina; and two great-grandchildren, Amadeo and Garrett and many loving nieces and nephews in Italy. The funeral procession will be Thursday, (July 28), 10 a.m. from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mark the Evangelist Church, West Hartford. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Wednesday, (July 27), from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
