Obituary for Joseph Christopher Guinan

Joseph Christopher Guinan, 78, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on February 23, 2017. Joseph was born on October 16, 1938. He was the oldest son of Christopher and Frances Guinan of Hartford. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Diane. He leaves behind his three sons who were his pride and joy; Stephen and his wife Alli, from West Hartford, Eric from Manhattan Beach, CA, Michael and his wife Laura from Port Chester, NY, and their five month old son, the apple of his grandfather's eye, Peter Joseph Guinan. He is also survived by his sister Martha, his brother Chris and his wife Pam, and his sister-in-law Joanne Noble; his nieces and nephews, Sean and Allison Guinan, Travis and Kate Noble, and Trisha and Scott Wooldridge. Joe was passionate about baseball and had a love for coaching, especially when his kids were involved. He was pivotal in bringing the Jaycee Courant Summer Baseball League to West Hartford and served as head coach for many years. He also coached in the West Hartford Youth Football and Basketball leagues. In his younger years Joe was an avid golfer and instilled in his kids a love of the game. Joe lived his life with great kindness, patience, and dignity. He will be forever missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, (Feb, 27), 11:00 am in the Church of St. Timothy, 1116 North Main St., West Hartford. Everyone is requested to meet at the church. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Sunday, (Feb. 26), from 2 to 5 pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford.
