Obituary for Catherine Barbara Knoegel (Gallagher)
Catherine Barbara (Gallagher) Knoegel of West Hartford, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born on April 27, 1927 to Isabella (Porter) and Michael Gallagher in Brooklyn, NY.
Catherine was born and raised in Brooklyn. “Cat” was proud to tell everyone she was “a Brooklyn girl”. She was known for her kind heart and unconditional love for her family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband William Knoegel. In addition she is survived by her loving children, Bill Knoegel and his wife Roberta; Barbara Knoegel Allison; Bob Knoegel; and Mary Hellrigel and her husband Kevin and her cherished grandchildren Michael and Ryan Allison; Khaliyl Lane; Matthew and Marianne Knoegel and Andrea and Brian Hellrigel. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, nieces and nephews and cousins in New York and Ireland. She is predeceased by her brothers Daniel and Patrick Gallagher and sister Ellen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (April 12), 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, West Hartford. Everyone is requested to meet at the Church. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Catherine’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
